Our Mission | 우리의 사명
워싱턴평강장로교회의 부속 유치원으로 2013년에 세워진 평강 유치원은 하나님의 말씀에 따라 아이들을 양육하는데 목적을 두고 있습니다. 또한 모든 아이들이 예수 그리스도 안에서 학문적, 정신적, 정서적, 사회적으로 성장할 수 있도록 가르치는 것이 우리의 목표입니다. 우리는 모든 아이들이 하나님에 의해 독특하게 창조되었다는 것을 인정하며, 아이들을 사랑으로 가르치려고 합니다. 평강 유치원은 아이들을 한국어와 영어의 이중 언어 환경에서 가르치기 위해 노력합니다.
The purpose of Shalom Daycare, which was established in 2013 as an affiliated daycare of Shalom Presbyterian Church of Washington, is to raise children in the way that they should go according to God's Word. Our goal is to teach them so that they may grow academically, spiritually, emotionally, and socially in the Jesus Christ. We acknowledge that children are all created uniquely by God, and we purpose to teach them with love. As our daycare strive to teach the students in a bi-lingual(Korean and English) setting.

Hajung Lee
Teacher Introduction
She brings a strong educational background, having graduated from El Paso Community College and Hankuk University with a major in Hotel Management. She has three years of professional experience working in childcare at a bilingual preschool. Additionally, she has a background in language programs, as well as English interpretation and translation. Hajung lives with her husband and two children. We believe her combination of professional experience and language skills would make her a valuable asset to the team.
Kyunghwa Cho
Teacher Introduction
She graduated from Seoul Theological College with a major in Social Welfare and Counseling. Her experience includes many years of child age work in both Korea and the United States. She holds a certificate in teaching young children. She resides locally with her husband, who serves as an assistant pastor.
Cho Young
Teacher Introduction
She is a graduate of Hyo Sung University in Korea, where she majored in piano. She has extensive experience in the music field, having worked for many years as a conductor, church pianist, and within various schools. Additionally, she holds a teaching certificate for high school education in Korea. She currently resides with her husband, who also shares a deep love for music and has many years of experience serving as a church choir conductor.
Ju young Kim
Teacher Introduction
She graduated from Mokwon University in Korea and completed her graduate studies at Soongsil University, where she majored in Education. She is currently continuing her studies at Midwest Baptist University, majoring in Counseling. Her professional experience includes many years of education work, ranging from high school levels in Korea to preschools in the United States. Currently, she serves as an assistant pastor for the early childhood department at Korea Central Presbyterian Church (KCPC). She lives with her husband, who is also an assistant pastor at KCPC, and their two children.
Choi Ok Kim
Teacher Introduction
She graduated from Gachon University in Korea and has many years of experience in preschool education within the United States. Her background includes teaching at Hangul school and serving as a praise team leader for young children at KCPC. She lives with her husband and two children.
Jin Kyung Lee (Joanne)
Teacher Introduction
Joanne and her husband, Mark (Tom), married in 2020 and now have a daughter. After she deeply encountered the love of God and was baptized in June 2025, she felt called to serve children and is currently a member of the children's ministry at Whole Word Fellowship in Oakton. She joined Shalom Daycare as a part-time teacher in 2025. She loves to serve and care for children, reminding them of the love God has for them and how fearfully and wonderfully they are made by God. Her favorite Scripture for children is Psalm 139. In her time outside Shalom Daycare, she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter trying out new foods and kids' indoor/outdoor activities. She also loves sharing her powerful testimony of God when she meets people.
Kijung Seo
Director
She is the Director of Shalom Daycare and has faithfully led our program for the past 13 years. In addition to her long-standing leadership at the daycare, she is the wife of the Senior Pastor of Shalom Presbyterian Church of Washington. Her professional background includes a degree from Yonsei University, where she majored in Food and Nutrition. Following her studies, she gained extensive experience working as a dietitian at a university hospital in Korea. She is the mother of two grown children and a proud grandmother of two.
Da Hye Han
Teacher Introduction
She graduated from Seoul Women’s University, majoring in Clothing Science. She has around 10 years of experience serving as a Sunday school teacher at KCPC and other churches. She lives with her husband and two children.
